After 60 years trading not a car in sight at the former SMC MG Rover dealership in High Wycombe (where I bought my current car). There has been a garage on the site since 1947 when it opened as Gregory’s before being taken over by Henlys and Cowies (for Leyland, Austin Rover and Rover) among others before SMC bought the franchise in 2002.

It’s reported that MG Rover owned the site before putting it up for sale in 2005. SMC tried to buy the site but were outbid, and when the lease expired at the end of February that was that. The buildings will be flattened to make way for a ‘Big Yellow’ storage warehouse. Ah, well.
