07:20 on a Sunday morning was probably never the busiest time at SMC MG Rover in High Wycombe, but it was earily quiet this morning – not a car in sight and the entrance guarded by those forbidding concrete blocks. This was the very last franchised MG Rover sales dealership in the country, and for four years after the demise of the manufacturer the forecourt was constantly full to bursting with MG and Rover cars for sale – driving past on the A40 you’d almost have been forgiven for thinking the events of 2005 had never taken place.
Although some would say the cars were rather overpriced to the end they did good business and provided main dealer support to MG Rover owners in the home counties. SMC have moved their MG Rover business to their Iver branch, where there are still a handfull of used cars for sale.
